Restore file system from a snapshot

Network-attached storage is a file-level storage architecture that makes stored data more accessible to networked devices.

Prerequisites

Quiescing a file system is a process of bringing the on-disk data of a physical or virtual system into a state appropriate for backups.

Quiesce any application running on the production host and flush the host cache.

Steps

  1. Select a storage system that supports File.
  2. Select Storage > File.
  3. Select the FILE SYSTEMS tab.
  4. Click VIEW ALL DETAILS.
  5. Select the SNAPSHOTS tab.
  6. Select a snapshot, click More icon, and click Restore.
  7. Type a value for the Backup Snapshot Name and select a value for Restore to File System.
  8. Do one of the following:
    • Click Run Now to perform the operation now.
    • Expand Run Now and click Add to Job List to add this task to the job list, from which you can schedule or run the task at your convenience. For more information, see Schedule jobs and Preview jobs.
